We are small and we are not yet making money.

Venoly is built by a tiny team in the Netherlands. The platform is live and people use it every day, but automated billing isn’t switched on yet — upgrades are currently activated by hand. That means we cannot pay you a normal sponsorship rate right now.

We’d rather you hear that from us on the first screen than find out on a call. Everything below is written on that basis: real perks we can hand over today, and a plain statement of what we intend to pay once money is coming in. If you need a paid deal now, this isn’t the right time for us — and no hard feelings.

§ The platform

What Venoly actually is

It’s a chat platform with the shape you already know — servers, channels, roles, voice, video, screen share. If you’ve run a Discord server, you can run a Venoly server without reading a manual.

The difference is underneath. Venoly is built security-first: the anti-abuse layer is a real policy engine rather than a keyword list, the company is in the EU under GDPR, and there are no ads and no third-party trackers anywhere in the product. Nearly everything is free, including the things other platforms charge for.

AreaWhat’s in it
ServersUnlimited servers and members. Text, voice and forum channels, threads, roles with per-channel permission overrides, webhooks, slash commands, onboarding wizard.
Voice & videoAlways-on voice rooms (no link sharing), 720p video, screen share, noise suppression, soundboard, and spatial rooms — a map you walk around on, where distance sets how loud each person is: full volume up close, fading to silence further away.
GamesTwo games built into the client: Ascendant, a co-op action-roguelite with seasons and server-vs-server leaderboards, and Server Empire, a management game about growing a server business.
Customisation14 built-in themes plus a full custom palette, animated avatars and banners, profile effects, custom emoji status.
MarketplaceThemes, emoji packs, stickers, server templates, soundboards, bot apps and AI personas — made and sold by the community.
ModerationAuto-mod rules, content filters, full audit logs, raid protection with join-velocity detection and auto-lock, verification levels, AI moderation suggestions.
MonetisationPaid roles, channel access and subscriptions are built on Stripe Connect but not switched on yet — there is no live checkout today. When it launches, Venoly’s cut is 5%.
PlatformsWeb, desktop app for Windows and Linux, and an Android app you download from venoly.nl. No iOS app, and no date for one.
§ What’s different

Four things you can actually demo on camera

These are the parts worth pointing a camera at. Everything else is table stakes.

VENILATOR

Security rules you can read

Venoly’s abuse defence runs on a policy language we wrote. Rules live in plain files, get compiled, and are evaluated on every relevant request — deciding in real time whether to block, throttle, warn or flag. Twelve policies run live, covering spam, raids, login attacks and uploads; eight of them can block or slow a request, and the rest watch and log.

PRIVACY

EU-based, no ads, no third-party trackers

Run from the Netherlands under GDPR. No third-party trackers, no advertising anywhere in the product — not now, not planned. Messages are encrypted at rest in an internal vault, and a deleted account is purged after 30 days. Two-factor auth, uploads scanned for malware, captchas on the actions that actually get abused.

RAID RADAR

A public dashboard of abuse

Raid Radar shows abuse reports across the platform in the open rather than hiding incident data. Combined with automatic raid lockdown and captcha gates on joins, it targets the 3am botnet problem that makes running a community miserable.

FREE

The cosmetics aren’t paywalled

Animated avatars and banners, profile effects, every theme, voice rooms, threads, server analytics, audit logs, the built-in games — free. Plus is a small individual upgrade, and boosts are how a community pools to unlock server-wide perks. We don’t charge for looking good.

§ Why your audience cares

The angle that lands

“New Discord alternative” is a tired hook and your audience has heard it. These land better, depending on who watches you:

  • —Gaming & community channels — the raid story. Anyone who has run a server has been raided, and everyone remembers the sinking feeling. Lead with the defence, not the feature list.
  • —Tech & privacy channels — the policy engine and the EU posture. A security layer whose rules you can actually read is unusual — and we’re upfront about our limits.
  • —Smaller creators — the free tier. Everything a small community needs without a subscription for basic cosmetics, plus built-in tools to sell memberships later.
  • —Anyone with a bored chat — Ascendant co-op inside the app. It demos in ten seconds and it’s genuinely fun on stream.
§ What you get now

Available the day you say yes

No performance targets, no minimum view count, no exclusivity. These are yours whether the video does 500 views or 500,000.

  1. 01

    Venoly Plus, permanentlyFree

The full individual upgrade on your account, for as long as you have it. Larger uploads, more storage, the lot.

  2. 02

Your server maxed out and verifiedFree

We push your server to the top boost level and add a verification badge: a vanity invite link, a server banner and invite background, 384 kbps voice audio and 250 emoji slots.

  3. 03

A custom badge and a partner listing

A creator badge that’s yours alone on your profile, plus a slot in the partner showcase inside the app where our users will see it.

  4. 04

    We buy you commissionsOngoing

One to two marketplace commissions a month, on us — up to €10 each. Custom themes, emoji packs, artwork, whatever you want made by creators on the platform. You pick it, we pay for it.

  5. 05

A direct line to the founder

Not a support queue. Early builds before release, and real input on the roadmap — if you tell us your community needs something, it gets taken seriously.

  6. 06

    Bonuses when we can

When something good happens on our end, partners get a share of it. We won’t pretend to schedule these — they show up when there’s something to give.

§ What it pays

The money, stated plainly

A flat monthly amount — not a revenue share, not a per-video rate you have to chase. It starts small because we are small, and it goes up as we do.

Today
€0Nothing. Automated billing isn’t live and we won’t promise money we don’t have.
Starting rate
€20Per month, per partner, beginning when revenue starts coming in.
Direction
UpwardThe rate rises as our revenue does. Early partners get raised first.
The fine print, in plain words

We are not putting a date on this, because we don’t know it and a made-up date is just a lie with a calendar attached. It depends on billing going live and on people paying for Plus and boosts.

If the money never comes, you are owed nothing and you keep every perk in the section above. That’s the honest shape of the deal: the perks are real and immediate, the cash is an intention we fully mean and cannot yet guarantee. Judge us on which one you’re being asked to take on faith.

§ Reasons to say no

Where we come up short

You’d find these out anyway, and you’d trust us less for having to. Here they are first.

  • —DMs are not end-to-end encrypted. They’re encrypted at rest, meaning we can decrypt them when investigating a report. That’s deliberate — end-to-end encryption would blind us to predators, CSAM and gore, and we’d rather be able to act. If your audience specifically wants E2EE, say so plainly on camera; we won’t ask you to fudge it.
  • —We’re much smaller than Discord. The ecosystem is young. Fewer bots, fewer integrations, fewer people. Discord wins on scale and maturity, and we say so on our own comparison pages.
  • —Not open source, not federated. If your audience cares about self-hosting or federation, Matrix and Revolt are honestly better answers, and we’d rather you said that than oversold us.
  • —Billing is still manual. Upgrades are activated by hand within a few hours. It works, but it isn’t the polished flow you’d expect, and it’s fair to mention.
  • —No iOS app. Web, desktop and Android are live; there is no iOS build and we are not promising a date. If a chunk of your audience is on iPhone, that’s a real gap today.
  • —We might not make it. Small platforms fold. We think we’re building something worth using, but you’d be putting your credibility next to a company that hasn’t proven it can pay its own bills yet.
§ FAQ

Questions you’re probably about to ask

Do I have to disclose this as a sponsorship?

Yes, and we insist on it. If we’ve given you anything of value — the perks count, not just cash — say so clearly in the video and in the description. That’s the law in the EU, the UK and the US, and it’s also just correct. A partner who hides it is no use to us, because the moment it comes out it damages both of us.

Can I be critical of Venoly on camera?

Yes. There’s no approval process and no script you’re obliged to follow. If something is broken or missing, say it. We published our own weak points on this page — we’re not going to object to you repeating them. All we ask is that you don’t state things that are factually untrue about us in either direction, good or bad.

Is there a contract, an exclusivity clause, or a minimum?

None of those. No exclusivity, no view minimums, no obligation to make a second video, and you can walk away whenever you like. If we start paying a monthly rate we’ll put that in writing, because money should be written down — but nothing about it will lock you in.

How do I know this isn’t a scam?

Fair question. Venoly is a registered Dutch company with published legal terms, a privacy policy, a DPA and a transparency report — all reachable from the site footer. The product is live and you can sign up and use it fully before you agree to anything. We’d suggest doing exactly that: use it for a week first, then decide.

Will you still be here in a year?

We intend to be, and we’re building as though we will. But we’re not going to give you a confident yes to a question no small company can honestly answer. That’s part of what you’re weighing up.

What do you actually want from me?

One honest mention, in your own voice, to an audience that might genuinely like this. That’s it. A dedicated video is welcome but not expected — a well-placed thirty seconds from someone whose audience trusts them is worth more to us than a rushed ten-minute review.

Can my community get anything?

Yes — the boost perks apply to your whole server, so everyone in it gets 384 kbps voice audio and 250 emoji slots to use. If you want something specific for your community, ask. We’re small enough to say yes to things.

§ The script

A 60-second read to take apart

Please don’t read this verbatim. It’s here so you know what matters and roughly how long it runs. Your audience can tell the difference between you talking and you reading, and the version in your own words will always work better.

Facts worth keeping accurate: it’s free, it’s EU-based, there are no ads or trackers, and the security rules are readable. Everything else is yours to rewrite.

If your server has ever been raided at three in the morning, this next bit is for you.
0:07What it is
Venoly is a chat platform — servers, channels, voice, all the stuff you already know how to use. The difference is what’s underneath it.
0:18The hook
It runs an actual security engine. Real written rules that decide, live, whether something gets blocked, slowed down or flagged. And you can read the rules. That’s not normal.
0:33Honest
It’s small. Tiny team, based in the Netherlands. No ads, no third-party trackers, and the cosmetics aren’t paywalled — animated profiles, custom themes, all free. There’s a co-op game built in too, which is a dangerous thing to tell my chat about.

It’s not trying to replace Discord tomorrow. It’s trying to be the one that doesn’t fall over when someone points a botnet at your community. It’s free — venoly.nl, link’s in the description. And yes, they’re supporting the channel; I’ll always tell you when that’s the case.
§ How to apply

Try it first, then apply

Make an account and use Venoly for a week before you agree to anything. When you’re ready, the application page lists the handful of requirements and tells you exactly what to send.
